A virtual butt is better than no butt at all.
Like nearly every other mass gathering event, Butt-Con 2020 won’t be held in person due to COVID-19. But the pandemic won’t stop organizers of the art-filled, interactive experience, which bills itself as Comic Con, but for backsides.
And “The Queen of Bounce” will be in full effect.
Big Freedia has been tapped to join the line-up of “Butt-Con: The Stream,” a free, digital event featuring doctors, Internet personalities and celebs talking about butt and gut health.
The gender-bending New Orleans hip hop artist, who has collaborated with Drake, Kesha, Lizzo and New Orleans hitmaker Mannie Fresh, is on board to lead a segment on the historical and racial context of twerking followed by the instruction of a twerking class.
Sunday’s two-hour program — streamed on YouTube — is produced by popular bidet company TUSHY, as an old school variety show.
According to a promotional material, “The Stream” is designed to guide viewers “through an epic and eye-opening journey of booty discovery, featuring guests and speakers from every butt-obsessed industry.”
“We’re fortunate to have so many talented and knowledgeable people participate … who can talk about the derrière in a fun, conversational manner,” TUSHY founder Miki Agrawal told The Daily News on Friday.
“This event is all about taking what we’ve been preaching with the TUSHY bidet and multiplying it by 100 with a good old-fashioned variety show,” she added. “From Big Freedia, who will be giving a history lesson on twerking along with a demonstration on how to properly drop it low, to famous doctors talking about everything from douching to what you can and cannot stick up your butt. BUTT-CON: THE STREAM has it all!”
Dr. Mark Hyman, referred to as the #1 functional medicine doctor and top anal rectal surgeon Dr. Evan Goldstein will join “colonist to the stars” Tracy Piper, plastic surgeon Vanesa Seco, and Instagram butt model and fitness trainer Starr Hawkins for the festivities described by Agrawal as “The Muppet Show meets Sesame Street meets butts and booties.”
Last year’s Butt-Con included tips from a butt-washing specialist, a cake sitting performance and a “belfie” (butt-selfie) booth all on the fourth floor of a nondescript Manhattan office building.
